VR and Children: Everything Parents Need to Know
One of the most frequent questions we receive from parents is: 'Is VR safe for my children?' The answer is yes, with the right precautions and the right experiences.
Age limits and the scientific reasons
Major VR headset manufacturers recommend use from 12-13 years for regular use. This is not a commercial whim: the human visual system is still developing until around age 12, and prolonged exposure to stereoscopic displays could influence binocular vision development.
For this reason we set age limits for each of our experiences: 10 years for light and short experiences, 12 years for standard adventures, 14 years for more intense content. All minors under 18 require written consent from a parent or guardian.
Shorter sessions for younger players
For children between 10 and 13, we recommend sessions no longer than 20-25 minutes. Not for immediate safety reasons, but to avoid straining the developing visual system. Our staff monitors younger players with additional attention.
Recommended experiences for families
Jungle Quest is our ideal choice for families with children: no horror elements, pure cooperation, accessible pace. Lost Sanctuary is another suitable option for families with children from 12 years old.
What to do if the child feels uncomfortable
We teach children (and adults) the stop signal: remove the headset and raise a hand. There is never a reason to 'resist' if you feel uncomfortable. The well-being of our players is always the priority.
